    Brett & Ngan's Wedding Day

    February 15, 2017

Brett and I met through a mutual friend who was adamant we would make a perfect match.

Between her and Brett, they tried to spin me this story about how we had met one night at a dance event… Of course I had no idea what they were talking about.

Shortly after this, Brett added me on Facebook. We chatted and a week later ended up at the same place when out with some friends - we totally hit it off!

Brett proposed on my 24th Birthday with a game of “pass the parcel”.

All of our friends and family were sitting in a circle. Brett had 20 presents wrapped up, when it came to the final box (the one with the ring in it) the music stopped on me and that’s when he got down on one knee.

I was so happy, I cried! He had asked my father’s permission, which made the moment even more special.

The ring is just amazing! I had dropped a couple of hints about the one I wanted but wasn’t expecting to actually see that ring when he finally proposed. It’s a gorgeous cushion cut diamond with small diamonds on the band. I couldn’t love it anymore.

After we got engaged, Brett and I moved overseas for a couple of years so the planning actually began from the other side of the world! After weeks of searching and endless emails we finally found the perfect photographer and videographer, which we booked from London. Obviously, the venue proved a little harder as we couldn't be there in person to see it. In our place, we sent friends to view venues and they unanimously fell in love with River’s Edge.

From the entrance through the reception area, the size of the room and even the stunning guest bathrooms, it was all perfect for the amount of guests we had. The floor to ceiling glass windows that run the full length of the venue, and open onto 2 balconies were another highlight for us. What made the venue even more fantastic was the staff. Both leading up to the wedding and the staff on the day were all amazing, very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed.

Once we arrived back in Melbourne with those 3 big items (photographer, videographer and venue) already locked in, the rest of the planning was very easy. It helped that Brett was incredible and played a huge part in the major decision making. Overall I actually loved every minute of it!

John Legend, ‘All of Me’ was the song for our first dance. It’s just such a beautiful song, from the first moment I heard it I knew that would be our song.

The process of choosing my dress was actually really long. I had a particular style in mind and couldn’t find it anywhere. After searching high and low through Melbourne bridal shops I finally found a designer I liked at a bridal expo. I went to her boutique in Yarraville and fell in love with the first dress I tried. She was so understanding and really opened my eyes to other styles and the dress I went with in the end was completely different to the style I had imagined. It was stunning and I felt so beautiful in it though, I just couldn’t say no!

Our big piece of advice for future bride & groom’s would be not to stress. Give yourself plenty of time and work through a list so you don’t forget anything. At the end of the day the most important thing is saying “I do” in front of a room filled with those closest to you so worrying about all the small stuff isn’t worth it. The day goes so fast so remember to take a few moments to soak it all in, have fun and enjoy the beautiful memories you are creating.
